Murtala Muhammed Foundation Plans Events to Mark 50th Anniversary of General Muhammed's Assassination

The Murtala Muhammed Foundation is preparing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of General Murtala Muhammed's assassination in February 2026. The events, led by Dr.

Aisha Muham-Oyebode, CEO of the foundation, will include activities such as art exhibits at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) showcasing General Muhammed's life and leadership, a strategic policy workshop in Lagos focusing on his role in redefining Nigeria's foreign policy, wreath-laying ceremonies, prayers, and a commemorative dinner. The celebrations will culminate in an international memory lecture and leadership conference in Lagos, followed by solemn events in Abuja.

The foundation aims to reflect on General Muhammed's commitment to national unity and anti-corruption efforts, emphasizing his enduring relevance in today's Nigeria.
