Nigeria's Interior Design Industry Generates N30bn Annually

At the 2026 Interior Design Summit held in Abuja, Hanatu Musa Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, stated that Nigeria's Interior Design Industry contributes N30 billion annually to the economy. Musawa highlighted the unique position of interior design within the country's creative economy, likening the discipline to a vital aspect of national culture.

She commended the Interior Design Association of Nigeria (IDAN) and its FCT chapter for organizing the summit and noted that IDAN is the leading professional body for interior design in Nigeria, affiliated with the International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers. Musawa also discussed President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to elevate the creative economy as a genuine driver of national development.

She mentioned the establishment of a high-level draft committee to create design policies and financial frameworks across the creative sector, including the 2023 Nigeria Everywhere strategy to embed creative industries into Nigeria's global brand.
