28 Killed in Jos Attack, Governor Mutfwang Vows Action

On March 29, 2026, an attack by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, resulted in the death of 28 individuals, as confirmed by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang. The governor described the incident as tragic and senseless, expressing profound sorrow for the victims and their families.

In response to the violence, Mutfwang announced a 48-hour curfew effective from midnight on March 29 to April 1, 2026, aimed at restoring order and ensuring the safety of residents. He visited the affected community and the injured at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, assuring that the government would cover medical expenses for the injured.

Mutfwang emphasized the need for justice against the perpetrators and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. He also announced a ban on commercial motorcycles in the area as part of security measures and committed to strengthening the security architecture in Plateau State.
