Femi Kuti Reveals Family's Stance on Fela's Catalogue Sale

In a recent interview with Channel TV, Femi Kuti, a prominent afrobeat musician and son of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, discussed the family's decision regarding the sale of Fela's music catalogue. He highlighted that his elder sister, Yeni Kuti, was particularly opposed to selling the catalogue, as she is dedicated to protecting their father's legacy.

Femi noted that while the family has licensed Fela's music to foreign companies, they have not sold the catalogue outright. He explained that Fela's estate is managed by the family, which retains control over licensing agreements.

Femi emphasized that Yeni's strong stance against selling the catalogue stems from her role as a caretaker of Fela's legacy, ensuring that the family's honor is maintained.
