Nollywood Actor Jide Kosoko Emerges as Oloja of Lagos-Elect, Marks New Chapter Beyond Film Industry

Jide Kosoko, a renowned Nollywood actor, has been formally presented as the Oloja of Lagos-elect at the palace in Elereko, Lagos. The 72-year-old actor described his emergence as a solemn call to service, signifying a cultural and community responsibility beyond his successful film industry career.

While expressing excitement about this new chapter in his public life, Kosoko did not clarify how his new traditional role would impact his acting career. His appointment has been acknowledged and congratulated by fellow actors like Bolaji Amusan (Mr.

Latin), highlighting the discipline and responsibility of practitioners in the film industry. Kosoko joins a growing list of entertainers who have taken on traditional leadership roles, following in the footsteps of comedian and actor Okei Bakassi and the monarch of Imo State community.

The Oloja of Lagos stool had been vacant since the death of Chief Adebola Ig in 2017. Kosoko's emergence was announced by Mutiat Ali Balogun, the Olori Ebi of the Generis King Kosoko royal family, during a ceremony where traditional rites and prayers were performed.
