Minister Clarifies: N200,000 TeenEagle Prize Not from FG

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, clarified that the N200,000 reward given to the Nigerian winners of the TeenEagle Global Competition came from his personal funds, not the Federal Government. The clarification followed online criticism of the amount given to the three teenage girls who emerged as champions.

The Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, Boriowo Folasade, emphasized that the gift was a personal gesture from the Minister and not an official government reward. This statement aimed to address misinformation circulating on social media regarding the source of the monetary gift.

The winners were praised for their achievement, despite some public perception of the gift being meager compared to donations received by sports stars.
