Ex-Power Minister Mamman Sentenced to 75 Years for Fraud

Former Minister of Power Mamman has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for committing fraud amounting to N33.8 billion related to the Zungeru Mambilla hydroelectric power project. Justice Jame Omotosho delivered the verdict on Thursday, stating that the sentence would run consecutively, beginning from the date of Mamman's arrest.

The court found Mamman guilty on 12 counts, with seven years for counts two, three, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, and twelve without the option of a fine. For count four, he received a three-year sentence with a N10 million option fine, and for count five, a two-year sentence without an option of fine.

The EFCC successfully established the charges against Mamman, who was absent during the proceedings. Justice Omotosho also ordered the final forfeiture of two properties owned by Mamman in Abuja and directed the recovery of N22 billion in assets linked to the fraud.
