NAFDAC Alerts on Toxic Infant Cereal Ban in Chad, Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) issued an alert following Chad's ban on several Bledine infant cereal products manufactured by Danon Group due to high levels of aflatoxin B1, a carcinogenic toxin. The contaminated products have already entered Nigeria, especially in border communities close to Chad, raising concerns about infant food safety.

NAFDAC urged immediate market surveillance to identify and remove affected cereals, advising consumers to verify the authenticity of infant food sources. Health workers are encouraged to report any side effects or reactions related to the banned products.
