NAICOM Charges NIA Leadership on Claims and Innovation

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has charged the newly inaugurated leadership of the Nigerian Insurance Association (NIA), with Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu as the 27th chairperson, to focus on prompt claims settlement and digital innovation. This historic appointment marks Nwachukwu as the first woman to lead the NIA in its 55-year history.

NAICOM's Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun Omosehin, expressed confidence in Nwachukwu's leadership to accelerate growth and deepen professionalism across the sector. He emphasized the importance of building public trust through transparency and fair treatment of customers.

Omosehin urged the NIA to prioritize claims experience and publish claim records to enhance service competition. He also called for stricter enforcement of compulsory insurance to protect policyholders and boost industry credibility.

Nwachukwu pledged to transform the insurance sector, which faces low penetration and trust issues, by fostering collaboration among stakeholders and focusing on regulatory compliance and public interest.
