NANS Supports NELFUND's Token Payment System for Students

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has endorsed the token payment system introduced by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). This system, which began its pilot phase on Wednesday, allows students to make tuition payments directly to their institutions using tokens linked to their schools, thus preventing duplicate payments and refund complications.
Comrade Obidah David, the Public Relations Officer of NANS, stated that this initiative would enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing student loans. He highlighted that delays in reconciling tuition payments by some institutions could hinder students from accessing examinations and other academic services.
David expressed optimism that the new system would simplify payment verification and reduce discrepancies between NELFUND's disbursement records and institutional financial records. He urged university managements to cooperate with NELFUND to ensure prompt reconciliation of payments, emphasizing that effective implementation could significantly alleviate existing challenges.
