NANS Engages Federal University of Lafia Over NELFUND Issues

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), North-Central Axis, met with the management of the Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State to address student complaints about delays in NELFUND refunds and alleged deductions from beneficiaries' payments. Students reported not receiving refunds despite the time elapsed, with some experiencing deductions ranging from N12,000 to N22,500.

Abiola Babatunde, the Zonal Coordinator of NANS Zone C, stated that the engagement followed a petition from affected students. The university Registrar, representing the Vice-Chancellor, assured the NANS delegation that the disbursement of NELFUND refunds had begun and that efforts were underway to ensure all eligible students received their refunds promptly.

Babatunde emphasized the need for transparency in the refund process and stated that NANS would monitor the situation until all eligible beneficiaries received their rightful refunds. He reiterated that the welfare and financial rights of Nigerian students are non-negotiable.
