NANS Urges Nasarawa Government to Resolve ASUU Strike

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Nasarawa State Government to intervene and settle outstanding arrears owed to staff of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), to end the ongoing strike. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at NSUK declared a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike on August 10 due to unpaid entitlements amounting to billions of naira.

NANS National Treasurer, Idris Omeiza, made the appeal during a meeting with NSUK management, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sa’adatu Liman. Omeiza acknowledged student frustrations over the disruption of academic activities and urged calm while consultations continue.

Prof. Liman assured that the university management and ASUU had reached an understanding regarding the payment of outstanding staff arrears and expressed optimism about government intervention. Omeiza reaffirmed NANS' commitment to dialogue and peaceful engagement, emphasizing the need for student welfare and safety.
