Shugaba Aims to Make Nasarawa Nigeria's Medical Hub

Musa Shugaba Abdullahi, the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nasarawa State, has pledged to transform the state into Nigeria's medical hub, aiming to reduce the billions spent on medical tourism abroad. This declaration followed his affirmation as the party's candidate during the NDC substitution primary on 15 September 2026, which was overseen by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Shugaba presented a five-point agenda that includes healthcare, education, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and security. He emphasized the need for investment in healthcare institutions to attract Nigerians currently seeking medical treatment in countries like India, the UK, Dubai, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, he proposed free and compulsory education for children aged three to 19, with plans to subsidize education for young adults aged 19 to 25 in specific vocational and medical courses. The NDC also affirmed candidates for other constituencies and established a three-member election committee for the primary.
