Abdullahi Sule Launches New Healthcare Centre in Lafia

On September 29, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule inaugurated a Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Lafia, highlighting the autonomy local councils have enjoyed since 2019. Sule praised Lafia Local Government Chairman Haliru Arabo for constructing and equipping the healthcare facility independently, without state government funding.
He encouraged Arabo to continue focusing on impactful projects. The PHC, described by Commissioner for Health Dr Gaza Gwamna as a Level 2 facility, will offer immunization, malaria treatment, antenatal care, and delivery services.
Gwamna noted that independent verifiers from the Federal Ministry of Health rated Nasarawa's PHCs comparably to general hospitals due to adequate staffing. Commissioner for Local Government Aminu Maifata stated that the project stemmed from the governor's directive for full disbursement of signature bonuses to local councils.
Additionally, Sule announced plans to resume work on the Kwandere-Karshi Road, upgrading it to a federal highway at an estimated cost of N40 billion.
