National Assembly Enhances Legislative Record Digitization

The National Assembly has announced initiatives to strengthen the authentication and digitization of parliamentary records to combat the spread of fake and outdated legislative documents. Henry Nwawuba, the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, revealed these plans during the 2026 National Assembly Library Week in Abuja.

The initiative includes translating Nigerian laws into Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and other local languages to improve accessibility. The library aims to expand electronic repositories, upgrade its E-Library, and develop a mobile application for easier access to parliamentary information.

A Bills Tracker will also be introduced to allow users to monitor legislative progress. Nwawuba emphasized the importance of these measures in addressing inconsistencies in parliamentary documents.

Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, representing Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, highlighted the critical role of the library in legislative decision-making and the need for technology to enhance legislative processes while ensuring accuracy and security.
