Tension Erupts Over Ajaokuta Steel and MoUs in Ministry of Steel Development

Tensions escalated during a budget defense session at the Ministry of Steel Development when Natasha Akpoti and the committee chairman clashed over Ajaokuta Steel Company and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). Akpoti, representing Kogi Central, questioned the transparency of agreements and demanded more engagement.

The Ministry received significant appropriations in 2024, but concerns about the lack of progress on Ajaokuta Steel were raised. Akpoti accused the Ministry of recycling rhetoric without tangible progress.
