Senator Natasha Akpoti Clashes Over Budget Exclusion

On February 16, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, had a heated argument with colleagues at the National Assembly. This confrontation arose after she was reportedly excluded from a budget defense session of the North Central Development Committee, chaired by Senator Titu Zam.

Akpoti arrived only twenty minutes before the meeting concluded and discovered she was not notified or invited, nor was her name listed among the senators from the North Central zone. She expressed her dissatisfaction over the exclusion, which she claimed directly affects her constituents.

The situation escalated when her staff confronted committee members, leading to security intervention. Akpoti stated she would not allow her colleagues to undermine her constituents and emphasized her commitment to ensuring Kogi Central receives its fair share of socio-economic development.

She vowed to resist any attempts to marginalize her district and maintain her focus on her mandate.
