National Orthopaedic Hospital Jos Treats 8,502 Patients

The National Orthopaedic Hospital Jos, under the leadership of Medical Director Prof. Ichma Onche, has treated a total of 8,502 outpatients since it began operations in 2025.

During a recent press briefing, Prof. Onche reported that the hospital has made significant progress in service delivery, evidenced by 259 admissions and 154 major surgeries, which included two hip replacements and two total knee replacements.

A total of 244 patients have been discharged after successful treatments. The hospital has also recruited 286 personnel, ensuring that appointments were based strictly on merit.

Prof. Onche acknowledged the support from the federal and Plateau state governments and highlighted collaborations with the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and vendors for medical equipment supply.

The hospital generated N72 million as internally generated revenue in 2025, aligning with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and aims to continue improving healthcare delivery.
