NPC Confirms Walida Abdulhadi's Birth Year Amid Dispute

The National Population Commission (NPC) confirmed that Walida Abdulhadi was born on February 7, 2004, as per an official letter issued by the NPC's Jigawa State command. This counters her family's claim that she was born in 2008, which would render her a minor during a controversial incident involving Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The NPC's verification, dated January 22, 2026, references a birth certificate issued on July 21, 2010, with entry number 2265, confirming Walida's current age as 22. The dispute escalated in 2023 when allegations arose that she was abducted and forcibly converted to Christianity.

Walida, however, denied these claims, stating she relocated to Abuja as an adult and was 19 years old at the time. The situation intensified with her family's threats and the DSS's involvement, leading to a court order for her release.
