England Faces Player Withdrawals Ahead of Nations League

England's national football team has experienced a significant setback ahead of their UEFA Nations League fixtures, with five players withdrawing from Thomas Tuchel’s squad due to injuries. The players ruled out include Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford, and Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento.

The England Football Association confirmed these withdrawals on Monday. Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest and James Garner from Everton have been called up as replacements and are expected to join the squad at St George’s Park on Tuesday.

Palmer's withdrawal is notable as he had recently returned to Tuchel’s plans after missing the 2026 World Cup squad, but he will miss the upcoming fixtures due to a minor muscular issue. Rice's absence is linked to fitness management concerns, while Rashford and Mainoo have also withdrawn due to injury issues.

Livramento is unavailable due to knee discomfort.
