Nigerian Navy Discovers Illegal Refining Sites in Rivers

The Nigerian Navy, led by Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, successfully foiled illegal refining operations in Rivers State. Utilizing credible intelligence, personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship NN Pathfinder, as part of Operation Delta Sentinel, targeted anti-crude oil theft operations around Oseokishikpa in the Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area.

During the operation, naval personnel uncovered two illegal refining sites that included eight dugout pit reservoirs, which contained approximately 15,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil and 105,000 liters of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO). This discovery is particularly significant as it highlights ongoing attempts by criminal elements to reactivate illegal refining infrastructure previously dismantled by security forces in the area.

The Nigerian Navy has committed to sustaining intelligence-driven operations to dismantle crude oil theft networks and protect critical national infrastructure, thereby safeguarding Nigeria's economic interests in the Niger Delta.
