Nigerian Navy Discovers Illegal Fuel Cache in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Navy has intensified its operations across the Niger Delta to combat illegal petroleum networks, following the discovery of concealed fuel stockpiles along the Bayelsa border corridor. This discovery was reported by Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, during ongoing operations under the Delta Sentinel initiative.

Intelligence reports indicated suspicious movements of illegally refined petroleum products around the Okarki community in the Abua Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State. Naval personnel deployed to the area conducted aerial surveillance, uncovering multiple sacks of concealed fuel within dense vegetation along the creek environment.

The operation led to the recovery of approximately 3,800 liters of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil stored in 38 sacks. Although no arrests were made during the operation, troops secured the area and handled the recovered products according to operational procedures.

The Nigerian Navy emphasized its commitment to restricting movements that sustain illegal petroleum activities and maintaining surveillance to disrupt hidden storage points.
