Navy Rescues Three Passengers from Sea Robbery in A’Ibom

The Nigerian Navy successfully rescued three passengers from a suspected sea robbery attack along the waterways in Akwa Ibom State. The operation was executed by personnel from the Forward Operating Base Ibaka under the Eastern Naval Command during a routine night patrol last week.

Navy Capt Adebowale Omotosho, the Commanding Officer of the Forward Operating Base, reported that the patrol team responded to a distress alert received at approximately 9:30 pm from a passing boat that reported an ongoing attack around the Mbendoro waters. The naval team proceeded to the location and rescued a passenger boat loaded with tomatoes and its three occupants, identified as David Okon, Anietie Friday, and David Edet.

The victims were traveling from Cameroon to Oron in Akwa Ibom State when they were attacked. The Navy confirmed that the rescued passengers were safely escorted to the FOB Ibaka facility, with no injuries recorded during the operation.

The successful rescue operation underscores the Eastern Naval Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and securing Nigeria’s maritime domain.
