NBA Invites International Observers for 2026 Elections

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has formally invited the European Union, United States Embassy, British High Commission, and other organizations to observe the upcoming 2026 elections scheduled for July 18. This invitation, signed by NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, aims to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process and ensure its transparency and credibility.

Osigwe described the NBA as Africa's largest professional association of lawyers, which upholds constitutional democracy, the rule of law, and human rights. The NBA plans to conduct electronic accreditation for observers and will manage the election through a central control room at its national secretariat in Abuja.

The association expressed confidence that the participation of international and domestic observers would reinforce democratic values and promote transparency. This invitation follows recent attempts by external interests to interfere in Nigeria's electoral process, which the NBA condemned as unprecedented interference in the affairs of an independent professional body.
