NBA Referees to Use Headsets for Real-Time Communication with Replay Center

NBA referees will begin wearing headsets to enhance communication with the league's replay center, starting from November 1. The new system, developed in partnership with the National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA), will be implemented in two phases to ensure officials have better access to support during crucial moments.

The first phase involves referees wearing small earpieces during instant replay reviews, while the second phase, starting in January, will see referees wearing earpieces throughout the entire game. The NBA believes this new communication system will lead to smoother, faster, and more consistent officiating.
