NCAA Launches Digitized Licensing for Aviation Personnel

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has initiated a transition to a fully digitized licensing process for pilots and aviation personnel, which will take effect on July 2, 2026. Capt.

Chris Najomo, the Director General of NCAA, announced this development on Tuesday at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. The digitization aims to eliminate long delays and bureaucratic bottlenecks that have frustrated aviation professionals seeking license renewals and certifications.

The new online platform will allow applicants to track their application status in real-time and will incorporate biometric verification and QR code-based licenses. This initiative represents the first phase of a broader digital transformation program by NCAA, which will also cover air operator certifications and other regulatory processes.

Godwin Balang, the Director of Airworthiness Standards, emphasized that the digitization will enhance regulatory oversight and improve compliance and safety in the aviation sector, moving away from outdated manual systems.
