NCDMB Honors Retirees as Local Content Hits 61%

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) celebrated the contributions of 14 retired employees to the growth of local content in Nigeria's oil and gas industry, recognizing an increase from approximately 5% in 2010 to 61% as of the event. The celebration dinner took place at the Conference Centre of the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Former Director of Legal Services, Mohammed Umar, noted the initial resistance from industry players towards the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, 2010, and emphasized the need for tactful engagement to foster compliance. Retiree Daziba Obah, who served as the pioneer Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, reflected on challenges faced during the construction of the Nigerian Content Tower.

Isaac Yalah, another retiree, highlighted the significance of the $350 million Nigerian Content Intervention Fund in enhancing indigenous participation in the sector. Dr Ginah Ginah, former General Manager of Corporate Communications, described his tenure at NCDMB as exciting, attributing the board's success to its training programs.
