Nigeria to Host Climate Investment Summit in June 2026

Nigeria will host the Nigerian Climate Investment Summit (NCI) on June 23, 2026, as part of the London Climate Action Week (LCAW). This summit aims to connect Nigeria's climate policy progress to global climate capital, emphasizing the need for $270 billion in climate financing over the next decade.

Nigeria has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030 and 32% by 2035, with a pathway to net-zero emissions by 2060. The total cost of these commitments is estimated at $337 billion, with Nigeria pledging to cover approximately 20% of this amount using its resources.

Mr. Pablo Vieira, Global Director of the NDC Partnership Support Unit, will be among the high-profile speakers at the summit, which aims to create 840,000 new jobs by 2060 through a shift to a green economy.

Vice President Kashim Shettima announced a $400 million investment commitment to mobilize Nigeria's renewable energy manufacturing value chain.
