NDC's Umeh Clarifies Peter Obi on Election Result System

Victor Umeh, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), clarified that the party does not intend to create a parallel result collation system for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This clarification follows comments made by NDC Presidential Candidate Peter Obi, who stated that the party would implement a system to transmit polling unit results to its situation room.

In an interview with Arise Television, Obi emphasized the need for accurate result transmission to prevent the inclusion of unrecorded figures. However, Umeh, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics, asserted that Obi was misquoted.

He explained that the NDC would deploy agents to polling units to collect results that have been officially declared and recorded, which would then be sent to the party's situation room for independent collation. Umeh stressed that this process should not be viewed as a parallel result system, as it involves only the results that have been duly collated and entered in the prescribed result forms.
