Umeh Defends Obi's Northern Support Ahead of 2027 Elections

Victor Umeh, the Senator representing Anambra Central, stated that the assertion that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), lacks support in northern Nigeria is mere propaganda from fearful political opponents. Umeh pointed out that Obi demonstrated his ability to garner votes beyond the South East during the 2023 elections, specifically mentioning his success in Adamawa State and other northern regions.

He emphasized that the political landscape is evolving, particularly among young Nigerians who are increasingly questioning traditional political loyalties. Umeh urged that no candidate should be intimidated and that all should be allowed to present their plans and ideas to the electorate.

He called on political stakeholders to ensure that citizens can choose their leaders in the upcoming 2027 elections through a process that is free and fair.
