NDC Defends Registration Process Against Umar Ardo's Claims

The Nigerian Democrat Congress (NDC) has dismissed allegations made by Dr. Umar Ardo regarding its registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), asserting that the process adhered to due process and legal requirements.

NDC's statement, issued from its national secretariat by Mr. Ikenna Enekweizu, emphasized that the party's registration was backed by a valid court order.

Dr. Ardo had claimed that INEC violated due process in the registration of NDC, which the party refuted as false and misleading.

The NDC highlighted that it had applied for registration in 2017 as part of an initial batch of 171 political associations seeking recognition. Despite INEC's initial objections regarding the party's logo, which it claimed resembled that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the court ruled in favor of NDC, affirming its right to register.

The NDC disclosed plans to commence full political activities, including its maiden National Executive Committee meeting, in compliance with statutory requirements.
