NDLEA Seizes N12.4bn Cannabis Shipment in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted a shipment of 4,959 kilograms of Canadian Loud cannabis valued at N12,397,500,000 at Apapa Port, Lagos, on June 23. The operation followed a four-week surveillance in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service.

The cannabis was found in a 40-foot container that had arrived from Toronto, Canada. In a separate incident, a 38-year-old businesswoman, Iwebema Ogechi Peac, was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on June 21 after 7.5 kilograms of cocaine were discovered concealed in the false bottom of her luggage.

The NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed these arrests and highlighted ongoing efforts against drug trafficking. Other arrests included individuals transporting various drugs across states, with the agency's chairman, Brig.
