NDLEA Auctions Drug Barons' Assets for N6.1 Billion

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully auctioned assets worth N6.1 billion, confiscated from drug traffickers, as part of its strategy to combat organized crime. The auction, conducted in Abuja, included six properties, notably a luxury hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, which sold for N5.9 billion.

Other properties sold included a block of flats in Ejigbo for N104 million and a property in Akure, Ondo State, for N29.36 million. NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Buba Marwa emphasized that this auction represents a significant financial blow to drug trafficking syndicates and serves as a warning to criminal networks.

The agency aims to dismantle the financial foundations of these enterprises and uphold the rule of law. The auction process adhered to strict compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Recovery Management Act 2022 and the Public Procurement Act 2007, ensuring transparency and public confidence in the management of recovered assets.
