Ndume Seeks Probe into N5bn Boko Haram Ransom Claims

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has demanded a transparent investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS) into allegations that he received N5 billion intended as ransom for Boko Haram abductees. He firmly denied any involvement in negotiating with terrorists or handling ransom payments, describing the allegations as false, politically motivated, and defamatory.

Ndume stated that he reported the matter to the National Security Adviser, DSS, police, and military intelligence after Zamala Ibrahim Kaigama, president of the Borno South Youth Alliance, made the claims. Kaigama had contacted Ndume regarding the abduction of residents, claiming Boko Haram demanded N5 billion for their release.

Ndume refused to contribute, citing his opposition to negotiating with terrorists. He has preserved evidence of communications with Kaigama and plans to take legal action against him for defamation.

Additionally, Ndume reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for investigation into alleged extortion.
