NEC Approves 2026-2030 National Development Plan, Funds Released for Polio Campaign

The National Economic Council (NEC) approved Nigeria's 2026-2030 National Development Plan (NDP) and ordered the release of funds for the polio campaign. The plan aims to build on existing policies, deepen continuity, and align Nigeria's growth trajectory with the Nigeria Agenda 2050.

The NEC meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized the importance of a seamless transition from the current development plan ending in December 2025. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu highlighted the need for wide consultations involving all stakeholders to structure the NDP effectively, focusing on job creation, infrastructure, food security, and human capital development.
