NEC Endorses NASENI's Solar Irrigation Pumps for Nationwide Farming Boost

The National Economic Council (NEC) endorsed the nationwide rollout of solar-powered irrigation pumps developed by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to enhance farming in Nigeria. This decision, made at the NEC's 152nd meeting in Abuja, signifies a significant step towards addressing the country's food security challenges.

The solar irrigation pumps, a product of collaboration, offer an affordable and sustainable alternative to traditional pumps, aiming to boost agricultural productivity while reducing operational costs for farmers. NASENI's Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, expressed gratitude for the NEC's confidence in their ability to provide homegrown solutions to enhance food production and improve rural livelihoods.
