NECA Certifies Over 87,000 Nigerians in AI Training

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) announced that over 87,000 Nigerians obtained certification from a practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) training programme within six months through the ITF-NECA Technical Skills Development Project (TSDP). At the Stakeholders’ Dialogue Forum and 2025 Outstanding Trainees Award Ceremony in Abuja, NECA's director-general, Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, urged for greater government and stakeholder support to enhance vocational training and enable beneficiaries to start businesses.
The AI training programme, in collaboration with the International Organisation of Employers and Microsoft, saw 101,000 registrations, with 87,000 participants certified. Oyerinde emphasized the importance of skilled artisans and announced that the next phase would focus on the Standardised Vocational Training Programme (SUPA) to improve artisans' competencies.
He called for the federal government to actively support the initiative, which has shown credible results over the past 17 years.
