NECA to Host 2026 Employment Summit in Abuja

The Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA) announced that it will lead a conversation on the impact of economic reforms during the 2026 Employment Summit, scheduled to be held in Abuja. This summit will involve policymakers, business leaders, and industry stakeholders to critically review the ongoing economic reforms and their effects on business, employment, and investment, aiming to enhance national competitiveness.

Mr. Adewale Smatt Oyerind, the Director General of NECA, acknowledged the significance of recent reforms in addressing long-standing structural imbalances in the economy.

He emphasized the need for a clear assessment of real sector outcomes. Oyerind pointed out that businesses across various sectors continue to face persistent challenges, including high energy costs, exchange rate volatility, inflationary pressures, infrastructural deficits, regulatory complexities, and weak consumer demand.

Despite some macroeconomic indicators showing signs of improvement, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) remain under significant strain.
