NEDC to Acquire 8 MRI Machines, Completes 18 Schools

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) announced plans to acquire seven additional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines, bringing the total to eight by the end of the current quarter. This initiative addresses the region's healthcare needs, where currently only one MRI machine serves a population of 28 million.

Mohammad Goni Alkali, Managing Director/Chief Operating Officer of the NEDC, shared these developments during a briefing in Abuja, highlighting the commission's achievements over the past seven years. In the education sector, the NEDC has constructed 18 mega primary and secondary schools across the six states in the region, with two schools nearing completion.

The commission has also made significant strides in infrastructure, repairing over 300 kilometers of roads and building more than 50 bridges. Furthermore, the NEDC has deployed solar-powered street lights to enhance security and economic activities in the post-conflict region, totaling 108,000 poles installed.
