NEFGAD Slams BPP Over Lack of Transparency - Calls for Procurement Reform

The Network for Public Procurement Advocacy and Development (NEFGAD) criticized the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for its weak defense in response to the United States' 2025 Fiscal Transparency Report. The report highlighted Nigeria's poor disclosure of procurement contract details, undermining accountability and good governance.

NEFGAD faulted the Nigerian government for consistently withholding contract information, leading to a lack of transparency. Despite the US report acknowledging Nigeria's progress in making budget and debt data publicly accessible, the BPP dismissed the findings as outdated.

The BPP emphasized ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu to enhance transparency in procurement practices.
