NEITI, EFCC, ICPC Collaborate to Combat Graft in Nigeria's Extractive Sector

The Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability in Nigeria's oil, gas, and mining sectors by strengthening partnerships with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). During separate visits to the agencies' headquarters, NEITI's Executive Secretary, Musa Adar, emphasized the urgency of deepening collaboration to enforce transparency and address revenue leakages.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, described NEITI's audit reports as crucial raw materials for investigations and pledged to review and strengthen the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance coordination. Similarly, the ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu San, hailed NEITI as a critical player in the fight against corruption and highlighted the operationalization of a special extractive industries desk to act on NEITI's audit findings.

The partnership aims to move beyond reporting infractions to rectifying them through joint actions, information sharing, technical collaboration, and coordinated responses to emerging cases.
