NELFUND Extends Student Loan Deadline to February 2026

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the disbursement of ₦183.8 billion to beneficiaries and has extended the student loan application deadline to February 27, 2026. This decision, communicated by Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, was made in response to significant feedback from students across the country.

The extension accommodates students who require additional time to apply, especially as the awareness campaign for the loan scheme has recently begun. Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, emphasized the fund's commitment to transparency and its mandate to expand access to tertiary education financing.

The application portal will close on February 27, 2026, and students are advised to complete their applications via the official portal. NELFUND has received 1.69 million applications, and the fund aims to support students from low-income backgrounds with interest-free loans starting in May 2024.
