NEPAD Business Group Urges Expertise in AfCFTA for Ambassador Appointments

The NEPAD Business Group Nigeria (NBGN) has urged the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to prioritize appointing ambassadors with expertise in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The group emphasizes the importance of deep knowledge and practical understanding of AfCFTA in ambassadorial appointments to enhance Nigeria's participation in the $3.4 trillion market and leverage the opportunities it presents for trade, investment, industrialization, and job creation.

The NBGN stresses the need for ambassadors to align with AfCFTA objectives, address trade barriers, and promote private sector competitiveness. They affirm readiness to support the government's policies and engage in evidence-based advocacy to ensure Nigeria plays a leadership role in AfCFTA implementation, driving economic transformation in Africa.
