Nigeria Urged to Prioritize Intra-African Trade Through Ambassadorial Appointments

Bola Tinubu's administration is urging Nigeria's newly appointed ambassadors to play a pivotal role in driving intra-African trade and investment. The NEPAD Business Group Nigeria (NBGN) highlights the significance of appointing ambassadors with a profound understanding of the African continent to promote trade within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The AfCFTA represents a $3.4 trillion market with 1.4 billion people, offering Nigeria unprecedented opportunities to expand exports, attract investments, and enhance industrialization. Ambassadors are now seen as economic diplomats rather than just political envoys, tasked with promoting trade, investment, and market access for Nigerian businesses.

The success of the AfCFTA hinges on effective implementation at both continental and national levels, including addressing trade barriers and adhering to trade protocols.
