NESG Warns Nigeria Must Create 27.3 Million Jobs by 2030

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has issued a warning stating that Nigeria needs to create at least 27.3 million new jobs by 2030 to avert an impending employment crisis. NESG emphasized the necessity of generating a minimum of one million new formal jobs annually between 2025 and 2030 to sustain economic growth and social stability.

Key sectors like manufacturing, construction, information technology, and professional services are expected to drive job creation. NESG stressed the urgency of addressing productivity challenges and removing constraints hindering private sector growth to prevent rising unemployment and poverty.

The group called for the immediate adoption of a Jobs Productivity Agenda to facilitate sustainable job creation in Nigeria.
