Nestlé Advocates for Action on Nigeria's Water Quality Crisis

During the 2026 Annual Water Quality Conference held in Abuja, Nestlé Nigeria PLC urged for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to address the growing challenges related to water quality across the country. Victoria Uwadoka, the company's Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Lead, reiterated Nestlé's commitment to responsible water stewardship and sustainable resource management.

She commended the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation for its leadership in strengthening water governance nationwide. Uwadoka highlighted the critical role of sustainable water use in Nestlé's long-term business strategy, emphasizing that water is essential across the entire value chain, from agriculture to manufacturing.

The conference unveiled a national water quality handbook developed in collaboration with the Ministry and other stakeholders, aimed at improving standards and promoting best practices in water quality management. Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, stressed the need to address water quality and quantity challenges, particularly in the face of climate change, which exacerbates issues such as erratic rainfall and increased pollution.
