Neuer Extends Bayern Munich Contract Until 2027

Bayern Munich veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer announced on Friday that he has extended his contract with the club for one year, keeping him at Bayern until 2027. At 40 years old, Neuer's deal was set to expire in the summer, marking his 16th year with the Bavarian giants.

The decision allows Neuer to reflect on his condition while helping the team beat opponents, as he is considered among the best goalkeepers in history. Neuer finished third in the Ballon d'Or voting in 2014, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Reports indicate that Neuer will play fewer games in the 2026-27 season to facilitate a smooth transition for younger goalkeeper Jona Urbig. Bayern has also extended the contract of third-string goalkeeper Sven Ulreich for another season.

Neuer, a 2014 World Cup winner, aims to conclude his international career in 2024, having won 124 caps and four World Cups. He has won the Bundesliga a record 13 times and lifted the German Cup six times in his career.
