Peter Obi and Kwankwaso Plan Alliance in ADC for 2027 Election Challenge

In a strategic move, former Anambra Governor Peter Obi and ex-Kano Governor Kwankwaso are reportedly planning a joint presidential ticket within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election. This alliance is gaining momentum as a central opposition force, with sources indicating a push from various opposition stakeholders who believe that the Obi-Kwankwaso partnership offers a strong chance to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election cycle. The alliance is seen as a potential challenge due to Obi's significant support base in the South-East and Kwankwaso's influence in the North-West, creating a broader national appeal.

Despite speculations, the alliance is yet to be officially adopted within the ADC hierarchy, with ongoing discussions and debates among party members and opposition stakeholders. Notably, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been linked to supporting Obi's presidential ambition, as he openly endorsed Obi during the 2023 elections. The Kwankwasiyya Support Group (KSG) is also reportedly backing the joint ticket, reflecting growing public frustration with the current administration's handling of insecurity and economic challenges.
