New Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Kills 15 - WHO Dispatches Experts

A new Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has claimed 15 lives since late August, with 28 suspected cases reported. The outbreak was declared in the Central Kasai Province, marking the 16th recorded outbreak in the country.

Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba confirmed the outbreak and highlighted the need for swift action to halt the spread of the virus. The World Health Organization has dispatched experts to assist the Congolese response team.

The strain of the virus identified is the Zaire strain, one of the six known Ebola strains. Authorities are working to deploy vaccines and treatments to the affected region to contain the outbreak and protect the community.
