New Zealand Sets Six Conditions for Student Work Visas

New Zealand's immigration authority has published six essential conditions that foreign nationals must meet to qualify for its student and trainee work visa. The requirements include providing proof of identity, which necessitates a valid passport and acceptable photographs.

Applicants must demonstrate good health, with those staying six months or longer potentially needing a chest X-ray. Character assessments are mandatory, particularly for those with criminal convictions or security risks, requiring police certificates for individuals who have spent a total of 24 months in New Zealand.

Immigration officials will evaluate the applicant's genuine intentions to comply with visa conditions based on personal circumstances and previous applications. Financially, students and trainees must show they can support themselves, with a minimum of NZD $1,000 per month, or NZD $400 if accommodation is prepaid.

Additionally, students seeking practical work experience must prove the work relates to their studies and have a written job offer from a New Zealand education provider or employer.
